Junior League of Dayton Run for the Health of It

Dayton, OH

The Junior League of Dayton’s fifth annual 5K/10K Run for the Health of It Walk, Run and Family Event is Saturday, April 25, 2015, at RiverScape MetroPark in downtown Dayton. This fast, flat course is ideal for runners looking for a spring event to kick off their running schedule or a final training session for the Flying Pig Marathon and other spring long-distance races. It’s also ideal for joggers, walkers and families seeking an opportunity to enjoy a non-competitive outdoor activity. Strollers welcome.

All proceeds from Run for the Health of It — one of two signature JLD fundraisers — support the League’s healthy families community initiative, which provides free safety and wellness education and resources for children and families in Montgomery County.

Since 1927, JLD fundraising activities have raised more than $1.5 million for 150 programs that have improved our community. During the past decade alone, these funds have allowed the JLD to distribute and fit 12,682 bicycle helmets; distribute and install 1,300 car seats; provide nutritional information to 1,500 children; and conduct safe-baby workshops for more than 600 teenage mothers.

Founded in 1920, the Junior League of Dayton is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. For 95 years, it has mobilized expertise and womanpower to make the Dayton area a healthier, more vital place to live, work and play.
